The Camp Crystal Lake Diaries :

An Exploration Into Friday The 13th

Friday The 13th (1980)

By David Zernhelt

With Forewords By

Victor Miller and Rutanya Alda

The Camp Crystal Lake Diaries : An Exploration Into Friday The 13th - Friday the 13th (1980) is author David Zernhelt's first book from his Friday The 13th book series project. The book's (2) forewords are by Victor Miller, who wrote the script for Friday The 13th (1980), and veteran actress, Rutanya Alda. The book is dedicated to the late actor, Richard Brooker, who died in April of 2013. Brooker was the first actor to bare the hockey mask of the fictional character, Jason Voorhees in Friday the 13th Part 3 (1982). The book highlights the Friday The 13th (1980) film, its celebrities, contains fan stories, film location photos, and never before published history facts about the film itself. Highlights in the book include the 175th Anniversary to the establishment of Blairstown, New Jersey along with New Jersey's 350th Anniversary since its birth. Two special seals that represent both of those anniversaries are on the book's back cover.

In a part of one of the book's forewords by veteran actress, Rutanya Alda, she writes :

"David Zernhelt offers a new take on this iconic film, in a book that is sure to be a "keeper" and a valued part of your library of books about horror films and the "making of" such films. For the first time that I can remember, for instance, there is an emphasis on meeting and interviewing devoted fans of Friday The 13th and learning of the impact of the film on their lives. The devotees of the maniacal Jason Voorhees know that more is going on in these films than : you have sex, then Jason kills you. There is a deeper subtext to the film and David Zernhelt handily explores the meaning and impact on the followers and fans of Jason.  In addition, you will learn new and exciting facts about the cast of actors, examine copious location photos and never-before-published historical information about the film and the components which made a low-budget offering become a worldwide classic of the Cinema."
